Progress Careers, an independent provider of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) are elated after being named the Most Supportive Employer for the second consecutive year.

Paula Thompson, Managing Director of Progress Careers, accepted the award on Friday 18th November at the virtually held, Careers in Careers Festival 2024.

The festival, which included a keynote speech from, Dr. Jo Saxton, Chief Executive of UCAS, and panel discussions exploring topics such as wellbeing and the application of AI within the careers sector, was attended by hundreds of professionals from across the country.

The day accumulated with an awards ceremony that was created to recognise and celebrate the incredible work within the careers sector. In total there were six award categories; Careers Star, Rising Star, Careers Legend, Most Supportive Employer, Best Tool to Help and Best Careers Impact Story, with Progress Careers winning the Most Supportive Employer Award.

Managing Director of Progress Schools, Paula Thompson said:

“I am bursting with pride at winning the Most Supportive Employer award again this year! Ensuring that we support our colleagues holistically is an absolute priority for us at progress careers. It’s important we recognise each individual to enable us to truly support them in every way we can. We listen to their needs, offer personalised support, and are always looking for ways to improve.

Since winning the award last year, we’ve further enhanced our wraparound support for the team, because as our colleagues evolve and grow, so should the support they receive. It’s my duty and responsibility to make sure that this happens. To everyone who nominated us, a huge thank you. I am extremely humbled, proud and honoured to lead such an amazing business.”

Following the event, the judges commented:

“It was a difficult decision as all three were worthy winners and we’re thrilled to see so much great work happening.  But the way in which Progress Careers supports its staff was impossible to ignore.  Particular note is that of MD Paula Thompson who is clearly role modelling great leadership in the way she goes the extra mile for her staff.  All employers could learn something from this approach.  We may not have the biggest budgets of any industry, but we can always do more to support our employees with many aspects including their development”

The award recognises an employer who exemplifies best practices in the sector by offering exceptional pay, terms, development opportunities, and other benefits. As Progress Careers has evolved and grown, they still stand firm to their core values, having fostered a strong, positive work environment and a passionate team culture. Their consistent approach has created a solid foundation from which they can continue to expand their shared passion of providing young people with personalised, expert careers education, information, advice, and guidance.
