Careers guidance designed for SEND and Alternative Provision settings

We are passionate about helping every young person, whatever their starting point, move confidently towards their future. That’s why we’ve developed a tailored careers programme, perfect for SEND and Alternative Provision education settings. We’re passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to ensure that they get the opportunity to explore their next steps. So, from specialist advisers and accessibility tools to careers resources designed specifically for SEND – we’re ready to support every student.

Our bespoke face-to-face careers service is shaped entirely around your students’ individual needs and your school’s careers programme. This means we focus on the areas you identify as priorities, ensuring a service that is both highly targeted and cost-effective. Our team of experienced advisers are highly skilled at adapting our delivery to meet a wide range of additional needs, such as autism and sensory impairments, offering a truly targeted and impartial CEIAG service for SEND and AP settings.

Alongside traditional careers activities such as careers cafés and careers fairs, we can also support with parent/carer information sessions, Results Day guidance, and bespoke transition planning. Every step of our delivery supports a student’s progress to a positive progression and your school’s commitment towards providing the Gatsby Benchmarks and government requirements, with a focus on making them accessible and inclusive.

Our accessible approach

The way we deliver our guidance is as individual as the students we work with. We adapt our approach to ensure accessibility for all, which can include:

Shorter, more frequent meetings, or extended guidance time depending on attention span and need.

Visual supports, simplified language, symbol systems, or assistive technology to aid understanding.

Building trust and confidence before careers conversations begin, especially for anxious or reluctant students.

To suit the learning environment where each student thrives.

Career Lead from Robert Ogden
Working with SEND students is an important part of my role. SEND students are no different when it comes to wanting to become active citizens – they just often have more barriers to overcome. Working with them is both rewarding and challenging, and I value being a small part of the process that helps them move closer to a fulfilling career.
Richard Jones, Careers Adviser, Progress Careers
I was very glad to get help from vanessa because she gave me a lot of time to talk about my different ideas and see where i should apply. it has really helped me focus on my grades now.
